Background and Introduction of RSSI
More than 3 decades have passed since Osho left his body and only a few of the first generations of Sannyasins who lived with Osho are alive today and are slowly leaving their bodies. Within a decade of Osho’s passing away, what used to be a global thriving movement of meditation shrunk down with communes, ashrams and meditation centres being closed down. Removal of Osho’s pictures from his ashram in Pune, desecration and destruction of the Buddha Hall and Osho’s Samadhi, removal and banning of Osho’s mala and imposition of fake copyrights and trademarks and many other dictatorial instructions coming from Osho International Foundation (OIF) in Pune resulted into confusions and a lack of unity in the Osho movement.
The absence of a guiding force and the gradual deterioration of what could have been Osho’s headquarters in Pune and the frequent misunderstandings stemming from it brought forward the need of a liquid organization of Osho lovers, an organization that would not only safeguard Osho’s teachings and his movement of meditation but also preserve the significant aspects of Osho’s sannyas in its purest form and make it easily available for the world at large and the future generations. The formation of Rajneesh Sadhana Sangh International (RSSI) came through as a responsible response to this very need. A group of dedicated Osho disciples under the guidance and inspiration of Swami Anand Arun founded RSSI in the year 2021. One of the main reasons behind the gradual decline in Osho movement was the lack of unity and difference in opinion between Osho disciples. RSSI understands and accepts that it is a natural outcome for differences to arise after the Master leaves his body and intends to provide a neutral and open space even for those with differences in opinions to come together and share this mutual dream to share and spread Osho.
